We are thrilled to release our first album. The songs on our album reflect the varied styles and experiences of our band members. Enjoy!
Our story began over 35 years ago, when Joe and Ron met each other on their first day of medical school at USC. After Joe taught Ron how to play guitar, they formed their first band, Gap Junction. While short lived, that band toured LA, playing at renowned venues such as The Bla Bla Cafe and The Ice House over the summer of 1981. Over three decades later, Ron met Rachel and heard her sing a couple of her original songs. Ron immediately contacted Joe, who drove 3 hours to Ron's house to meet Rachel. And Reel Paradox was born.
We started out by practicing in Joe's recording studio. We spent many long nights writing, playing, and drinking wine to produce our first album. Our group was cemented together through a love of life, friendship and music.
Despite sharing many of the same interests and pastimes, we all are inspired by different things that lead us to work seamlessly in a creative setting. We take turns writing lyrics so we are all invested in each song and its meaning.
Our music blends blues, jazz, rock, acoustic melodies, and electronic to create a unique sound. Our lyrics are personal and inspired by our own lives. We’ve written about the joys and heartaches of love, life, and its inevitable end.
